1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These terms govern your use of the StudYear platform — the website, consoles, dashboards, study tools and AI features (together, the "Service"), operating UK-wide from England & Wales ("StudYear", "we"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms.
2. Accounts
- You must give accurate information when registering and keep your credentials secure.
- Accounts for children are created or approved by a parent, guardian or school. Free child accounts are limited to one per verified parent or device.
- Each user category (student, parent, teacher, school, tutor) has its own account type with its own permissions; you must not use a console you are not entitled to.
3. ACU credits and payments
- AI actions are metered in ACU credits: 100 ACUs = £1. The price of each action is shown before you run it, and your balance is always visible.
- Credits are prepaid. When your balance reaches zero, paid features stop — we never bill you retrospectively.
- Subscriptions renew monthly and can be cancelled any time, taking effect at the end of the billing period. Statutory refund and cancellation rights under UK consumer law are unaffected.
- Bonus, referral and free-tier credits carry expiry dates, shown when they are granted.
4. Acceptable use
- The Service helps you learn — it explains methods and gives feedback. You must not use it to cheat in exams or submit AI output as your own work where that is prohibited by your school or exam board.
- No abusive, unlawful or infringing content; no attempts to probe, overload or reverse-engineer the Service; no scraping other users' data.
- We may suspend accounts that break these rules, with credit balances preserved except in cases of fraud.
5. Content
You keep ownership of resources you create. You grant us the licence needed to store, display and (where you choose to share) distribute them on the platform. AI-generated material is provided for your personal study; check it against your exam-board specification (see our disclaimer).
6. Liability
The Service is provided with reasonable skill and care. We are not liable for exam outcomes, indirect losses, or issues caused by events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including for death, personal injury or fraud. Our total liability is otherwise capped at the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
7. Changes and termination
We may update the Service and these terms; material changes will be notified in advance. You can close your account at any time. These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and disputes belong to the courts of England & Wales.
